FCRA Amendments and Christian Community Concerns: Rijiju Speaks Out

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju addressed the Christian community in Kerala regarding concerns over proposed FCRA amendments. During a visit to Kerala, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju reached out to the Christian community amid concerns over proposed amendments to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA). Highlighting the BJP government's assurance, Rijiju stated that the amendments aim to enhance regulatory transparency without targeting legitimate organisations.

In discussions with church representatives, Rijiju pledged that organisations working genuinely for societal welfare would face no penalties, while emphasizing the importance of safeguarding national security. He criticized the Congress and Communist parties for spreading false narratives about the bill, underscoring the government's duty to listen and support its citizens.

Father Eugene Pereira, representing the Latin Archdiocese, noted positive responses from the minister, who assured further dialogue and efforts to address concerns with the Prime Minister. Rijiju faced criticisms about the bill, listed for Lok Sabha debate, which he attributed to legislative priorities, not politics.
