The Kerala Election Commission is pulling out all the stops to increase voter turnout among young electors in the upcoming Assembly elections. With innovative initiatives such as free Uber rides and halwa distribution, the EC aims to transform voting into an engaging and celebratory activity.
In an effort to attract the 18-30 age group, which comprises roughly 50 lakh individuals, the EC is teaming up with various companies and brands to offer attractive incentives. Discounts at popular coffee chains like Starbucks and Cafe Coffee Day, along with supportive messages from food delivery services such as Zomato and Swiggy, are part of the campaign.
Additionally, the EC is focusing on educational outreach through its Electoral Literacy Club, mobilizing activities in schools, colleges, and tribal areas to emphasize the importance of voting. This comprehensive strategy, combined with logistical support at polling stations, aspires to achieve a significant increase in voter turnout.
