Punjab is actively preparing for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, officials confirmed on Saturday. A pre-SIR mapping exercise has already mapped over 74% of the state's electors, announced Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra. This initiative is part of a structured and time-bound approach.
The election authorities are implementing daily monitoring of progress at the headquarters level, facilitating timely issue resolution. Districts like Tarn Taran and Moga are at the forefront with high mapping percentages. The public is encouraged to verify their data with the 2003 electoral rolls, accessible via the Election Commission of India's portal.
During the SIR exercise, booth-level officers will carry out door-to-door enumeration, and the participation of citizens remains crucial for accuracy. Additionally, a toll-free helpline and digital resources are available to assist electors. Ensuring error-free electoral rolls is essential for a robust democratic system, Mitra emphasized.
