Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has renewed lease deeds for 79 residents of Leh's Housing Colony, marking a historic moment for the region. The initiative ensures legal security, facilitates property transactions, and improves access to banking services, including loans.
Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'housing for all' and 'improved ease of living', the renewal of lease deeds stands as a key step towards achieving secure housing rights in Ladakh, particularly notable given the area's geographical challenges.
Special camps were organized under the Jammu and Kashmir Land Grants Act, 1960, to expedite this process, with Saxena assuring future camps to clear all pending cases. This move primarily benefits long-term residents and military families, offering financial empowerment and relief.
