In a bold move towards gender equality, the Indian government is set to roll out the women's quota law by 2029, simultaneously increasing Lok Sabha's capacity to 850 seats. Scheduled for introduction in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, three pivotal bills aim to reshape the future political landscape of India.

The Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill, 2026, along with The Delimitation Bill, 2026, and The Union Territories Laws (Amendment Bill), 2026, are poised for debate. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will introduce these legislative proposals, with 18 hours allocated for parliamentary discourse.

The draft Constitution amendment outlines growth in Lok Sabha seats from 543, incorporating provisions for 33% female representation. The initiative promises rotational seat allotment across constituencies, ensuring women's voices resonate more prominently in Indian political domains by the 2029 elections.
