Jharkhand's Pursuit of Justice: The Missing Woman Case Unfolds

The Jharkhand High Court ordered police to send a recovered skeleton from Bokaro for forensic analysis in Kolkata, in connection with a missing woman case. The court stressed the importance of comprehensive accountability among police ranks involved in the investigation, pending further forensic results and subsequent hearings.

The Jharkhand High Court has taken decisive action in the case of a missing woman, directing police to send a skeleton recovered in Bokaro to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Kolkata for further analysis. The police suspect the remains belong to an 18-year-old who vanished eight months prior.

The court issued the directive following a petition from Rekha Devi, the missing woman's mother. A division bench, comprising Justices Sujit Narayan Prasad and Sanjay Prasad, emphasized the necessity of DNA matching between the skeleton and samples from Rekha Devi and her husband. This forensic report is to be presented within two weeks.

The case has exposed serious lapses within local law enforcement. The Bokaro SP has already suspended 28 officers from Pindrajora police station. The court, however, argued that responsibility should extend to senior officers as well. The special investigating team (SIT) provided court updates, and key officers must reappear in court following forensic report submission.
