Tragic Road Accident in Udhampur: Relief Measures Announced

On Monday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah declared ex-gratia relief for the victims of a horrific road accident in Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir. The calamity claimed 21 lives and left 29 others injured.
The incident occurred when a passenger bus veered off the road at Kagort on the Ramnagar–Udhampur route, crashing into an auto-rickshaw before overturning. Following this, Abdullah announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the families of deceased individuals, Rs 1 lakh for those seriously injured, and Rs 25,000 for others with minor injuries.
While acknowledging the inadequacy of financial aid to offset the profound loss of life, Abdullah affirmed the government's commitment to aid and support the affected families during this challenging period.
