Online Shopping Scam: Nurse Loses Big on a Rs 299 Dress
A Mumbai nurse fell victim to a Rs 1 lakh fraud in a scheme linked to a Rs 299 dress advertised on Facebook. The scam involved additional charges under various pretenses. A complaint has been filed, and a police investigation is underway.

In a distressing incident, a nurse from Mumbai found herself entangled in an online scam, losing Rs 1 lakh while attempting to purchase a dress advertised for Rs 299 on Facebook.
The victim, who resides in a city hostel, was drawn into the scam which spanned five days, during which she made payments for a plethora of fabricated fees including shipping, GPS, and verification codes. Despite assurances of repayment and delivery, none materialized.
After realizing the deceit, the nurse reached out to the Cyber Crime Helpline and Reported the matter. The Deonar police have since initiated a probe, tracing the fraudulent activity back to a Facebook ad and a fake delivery agent.
