In a tragic turn of events, a 36-year-old contractor was apprehended on charges of abetting the suicide of a government school headmaster in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. This development came after authorities found a note left by the deceased, naming the contractor among others involved.
The headmaster, Raju Pujari, was discovered hanging in a forested area near Cherpal village on April 22. Initial proceedings registered it as an unnatural death at the Kotwali police station. However, the case took a serious turn after the discovery of a handwritten note allegedly detailing a payment dispute over school construction, implicating the contractor.
Investigations revealed that disagreements over unsettled payments, with only 40 percent disbursed, might have intensified the pressures leading to the headmaster's mental distress. Authorities have taken the contractor into custody, and efforts are ongoing to locate other potential suspects in connection with the tragedy.
