Daring Police Encounter Leads to Arrest of Notorious Offender

Two men, including a notorious criminal from Uttar Pradesh, were apprehended following a police encounter in Basant Vihar, officials confirmed on Sunday. The incident transpired at the Harbanswala barrier during a routine check under 'Operation Prahar' on Saturday night.
Authorities signaled the duo, who were riding a blue scooter without a number plate, to stop. However, they attempted to escape towards the Harbanswala Tea Estate, leading to a pursuit. The suspects then fired at the pursuing officers, prompting a defensive response from the police, during which one of the men was injured.
The men, identified as Abdullah and Shahnawaz, have previous criminal records in Uttar Pradesh. Abdullah, who suffered a gunshot wound, was admitted to a hospital. The police recovered two illegal country-made pistols and live cartridges from their possession. A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act.
