Congress leader Pawan Khera has escalated his legal battle to the Supreme Court, challenging a Gauhati High Court ruling which denied him anticipatory bail. The court's decision comes after Khera accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife of holding multiple passports and failing to disclose overseas properties.

The apex court's case status indicates that the matter has yet to be assigned to a bench. Justice Parthiv Jyoti Saikia initially dismissed Khera's bail application after the Supreme Court mandated he approach the Gauhati High Court.

In reaction to these allegations, criminal cases were filed against Khera by Riniki Bhuyan Sharma at the Guwahati Crime Branch. Despite being granted a seven-day transit anticipatory bail by the Telangana High Court, the Supreme Court temporarily stayed this order, directing Khera to pursue remedies through the Gauhati High Court.
