CRPF team, hydraulic road blockers deployed at Delhi Assembly ahead of special session

A quick response team of CRPF will be deployed at the Delhi Assembly ahead of a one-day special session to be held on Tuesday, officials said on Monday. Aiming to strengthen the security framework of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, measures like hydraulic road blockers at all entry gates, reinforcement of access control points and restricted entry have been taken, they added.

A quick response team of CRPF will be deployed at the Delhi Assembly ahead of a one-day special session to be held on Tuesday, officials said on Monday. Earlier this month, there was a security breach in the Delhi Assembly when three masked men drove onto the premises, causing a security scare, they said. Aiming to strengthen the security framework of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, measures like hydraulic road blockers at all entry gates, reinforcement of access control points and restricted entry have been taken, they added. ''A series of enhanced security measures is presently under implementation, including the installation of hydraulic road blockers at all entry gates, reinforcement of access control points, and the creation of a more responsive on-ground security mechanism within the assembly premises,'' the assembly said in a statement. The deployment of a Quick Response Team of the CRPF is also being put in place to ensure immediate and effective response to any exigency, it added. A high-level joint security meeting was held to ensure preparedness ahead of the special session. ''As part of the revised access protocol for the upcoming session, it has been decided that entry to the assembly premises will be regulated through gate number 1, with other gates remaining restricted, to streamline movement and strengthen perimeter control,'' the assembly said. The meeting was chaired by the secretary of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Ranjit Singh, with participation from senior officials of the Delhi Assembly, Delhi Police, and Central Armed Police Forces.
