Rare Note Scam: Teacher Duped by Cyber Fraudsters

A school teacher from Ajmer has fallen victim to cyber fraud, losing Rs 3.66 lakh in a deceitful online scheme. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shamsher Khan, the fraudsters posted a Facebook advertisement claiming a rare Rs 5 note with a tractor symbol could sell for Rs 48 lakh.

The teacher, Mridula Sharma, in possession of the note, contacted the fraudsters as directed by the ad. Initially, they requested Rs 520 as a processing fee, but subsequently demanded numerous additional payments, citing reasons like GST and vehicle charges.

Money was transferred to several bank accounts, and after realizing the scam, Sharma filed a complaint with the police. Authorities have registered a case and are currently investigating further.
