On Thursday, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei emphasized the importance of safeguarding the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime corridor, amidst escalating tensions with the United States. In a statement broadcast by Iran's national network, Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Khamenei underscored the geopolitical and economic significance of the Persian Gulf, lauding it as a 'divine blessing' pivotal to regional identity and global trade.

Khamenei criticized Western powers, particularly the United States, accusing them of destabilizing the region through their military presence. He stated that such interventions have historically led to conflict and insecurity, asserting that recent events prove external forces' inability to maintain stability in the Gulf. Iran, he affirmed, aims to play a key role in preserving the safety of these waters.

Marking Persian Gulf Day, which remembers a 1622 victory over colonial forces, Khamenei reflected on Iran's resistance against foreign influence since the Islamic Revolution. He described this resistance as pivotal in establishing regional control, promising that new management strategies for the Strait of Hormuz would benefit all surrounding nations economically and politically, despite external opposition.
