The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) wasted no time in resuming its demolition efforts on unauthorized constructions, post the Appellate Tribunal's decision to lift the stay order. These developments are tied to the controversial Uttam Nagar Holi clash case, which resulted in the death of a 26-year-old man.
The tribunal's decision came after rejecting an interim plea from the accused party's relatives, who sought to protect their properties from being demolished or sealed. It was observed that constructions in question involved the merging of multiple residential units, prompting MCD's action.
Despite initial relief from the Delhi High Court, which offered a 15-day stay, the tribunal's recent order reinforced the municipality's decision to proceed with demolitions. All final arguments are set for June 11, 2026, as the case continues to unfold.
