Ukraine Blocks Unloading of 'Stolen' Grain Vessel in Israel
A vessel allegedly carrying stolen Ukrainian grain will not unload in Israel after Ukraine requested its seizure. Israel found gaps in Ukraine's request for evidence, while the vessel departed into neutral waters. Ukraine's President stressed systematic action against vessels transporting grain from occupied regions.
A ship accused of carrying stolen Ukrainian grain will not be unloading in Israel, following a request from Ukrainian authorities for its seizure. The vessel, named Panormitis, has since departed Israel's territorial waters, heading into neutral waters, as confirmed by Ukrainian officials.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, hailed the development as evidence of effective diplomatic and legal actions. He reiterated Ukraine's commitment to curb the operations and transportation of grain from areas occupied by Russia, positioning this effort as a warning to other ships not to partake in illegal activities involving Ukrainian grain.
This diplomatic incident highlights tensions as Ukraine condemns Israel for grain purchases originating from contested territories. Israel, meanwhile, argues that Ukraine's claims lack solid evidence. Moscow has yet to comment on the grain's legal status in internationally recognized Ukrainian regions.
