The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its probe into a money laundering case by issuing a Look Out Circular for Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sinha Biswas. The circular aims to prevent Biswas from leaving the country as he has not cooperated with the ongoing investigation, officials revealed on Tuesday.
The money laundering inquiry is tied to a syndicate allegedly led by Biswajit Pappu Sona. The ED has already conducted a raid on Biswas' residence in Ballygunge, Kolkata. "A circular enables authorities to detain Biswas at any exit point, be it land, air, or sea," a source disclosed.
Previously, the ED arrested local businessman Jay S Kamdar, linked to the case initiated by a Kolkata Police FIR against Podder. The FIR accuses Podder of various criminal activities, and he remains wanted by law enforcement. Efforts to summon Podder by the ED have so far been futile, according to agency records.
