Bharat Mathur, a senior vice president of a major corporate group, has been granted bail by a Delhi court in a Rs 2.5 lakh bribery case. The scandal pertains to the alleged expediting of drone imports for a private firm, facilitated by a high-ranking DGCA official.
Special Judge Chhavi Kapoor ruled in favor of Mathur, emphasizing his lack of prior criminal activity and his cooperative engagement during the investigation. Mathur had been detained following his arrest by the CBI, along with Mudavath Devula, a Deputy Director General of the DGCA.
The CBI failed to trace the illicit financial transactions conclusively. Citing the evidence and Mathur's senior citizen status, the court deemed further custody unnecessary, imposing bail conditions to ensure compliance.
