The Uttarakhand Special Task Force has apprehended Shubham Bhatnagar, identified as the alleged mastermind of a sophisticated cheating racket in a Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruitment examination. The arrest was executed in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, authorities reported.

According to the officials, Bhatnagar was operating the Mahadev Digital Lab at Mahadevi Kanya Pathshala in Dehradun, an authorized SSC online exam center. He reportedly exploited this facility to provide remote access to candidates, facilitating cheating during the examination held on February 13.

The operation's covert nature was highlighted by the discovery of an underground chamber within the lab, equipped with technology to bypass security protocols. With earlier arrests of Nitish Kumar and Bhaskar Naithani linked to this case, Bhatnagar's capture marks significant progress in the investigation under the Uttarakhand Public Examination Act, 2024.
