The capital city of Delhi witnessed a modest increase in crimes against Scheduled Castes (SCs) in 2024, registering 133 cases, according to the latest data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). This is a slight rise from the 128 incidents documented the previous year.
Despite this uptick, Delhi's crime rate against SCs stood at 4.7, which remains significantly lower than the national average of 27.7. The NCRB data highlights an impressive 95.5% chargesheeting rate in Delhi, surpassing the all-India average of 82%.
Nationally, the numbers show 55,698 crimes against SCs in 2024, a decrease from 57,789 in 2023. Uttar Pradesh reported the most cases, while Delhi led among Union Territories, followed by Jammu and Kashmir, and Chandigarh.
