The latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report reveals Delhi as the leading city in crimes against women, logging 13,396 cases in 2024. This places Delhi ahead among 19 major Indian cities.
Despite dipping slightly to a crime rate of 176.8 per lakh women, Delhi holds the fourth-highest position nationwide after Jaipur, Indore, and Lucknow. Overall, there's a 0.22% rise in registered crimes compared to 2023, illustrating a troubling trend.
Major concerns such as rapes and dowry-related cases persist, with 1,058 reported rapes and 109 dowry deaths in 2024. Additionally, Delhi recorded 3,974 kidnapping and abduction cases, highlighting significant safety issues in the metropolitan area.
