The Himachal Pradesh government has declared paid holidays on May 28 and 30, coinciding with the second and third phases of the panchayat elections in the region. The state issued a notification stating that government offices, educational institutions, and industrial undertakings will remain closed on these dates.
Additionally, shops and commercial entities located near Panchayati Raj Institutions will also be shut down to facilitate the election process. However, the holiday notice will not apply to certain gram panchayats in the Kullu district, as their terms have not yet expired.
Employees who need to vote but are stationed elsewhere in the state can avail of special casual leave, provided they furnish a certificate from the presiding officer confirming their vote. This move aims to ensure maximum participation in the democratic process.
