District Jail Superintendent Rishabh Dwivedi said Rajendra Prajapati alias Chithru, a resident of Hathgawan police station area in the Pratapgarh district, was lodged in barrack number two in connection with a theft case. He was injured when a ceiling fan fell on him while he was asleep on Friday night. After providing first aid, doctors referred him to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj after his condition turned serious, the jail superintendent said, adding that Prajapati's condition remains critical.
