The Delhi government will launch a five-day special rescue and service drive for destitute persons from Monday to Saturday. Addressing a press conference at Apna Ghar Ashram in Pooth Khurd on Saturday, the Delhi Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said the campaign will be jointly organised by the Delhi government's Department of Social Welfare, Apna Ghar Ashram and Seva Bharti Delhi Prant. Singh said the campaign for needy, helpless and destitute persons will be conducted across all 13 districts of the national capital from May 11 to 15. He said the campaign aims to rescue destitute individuals from different parts of the city and bring them to shelter homes, where arrangements will be made for their treatment, care and rehabilitation. According to the minister, 19 vehicles will be deployed for the rescue operation across Delhi, and more than 300 people are expected to receive assistance during the five-day drive. A 'one window system' has been set up for the smooth implementation of the campaign, with the Department of Social Welfare coordinating the operation and ensuring support throughout the exercise. He also appreciated the work being carried out by Apna Ghar Ashram, saying the organisation not only rescues destitute persons but also facilitates their treatment, rehabilitation and reunion with families after recovery. The minister said several social organisations, including Seva Bharti, are extending support to the campaign. He appealed to media organisations and members of the public to cooperate in the initiative and help reach people in need.
