A court in Gurugram has handed down a 20-year sentence to a man convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl last year, as confirmed by the local police. The incident, reported on September 2, 2022, took place on August 30, when the victim's father filed a complaint.
Subsequently, the police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and related sections. The accused was soon apprehended, and law enforcement conducted a thorough investigation, collecting compelling evidence and testimonies that contributed to the charge sheet.
On Monday, the court found the evidence and testimonies persuasive enough to deem the accused guilty, resulting in his sentencing to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹35,000, as noted by a spokesperson from the Gurugram Police.
