Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare, known for her forthrightness, appeared before the privilege committee of the Maharashtra legislature on Monday. She firmly refused to apologize for her remarks that were allegedly targeted at Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, maintaining that they were misinterpreted.

Andhare was scrutinized by the privilege committee following allegations of her remarks. She clarified that her statements were not an attack on Shinde but directed at party workers who vandalized a studio over a controversial song. She emphasized her anger was towards those responsible for the vandalism, not individuals in the legislature.

Amid the controversy, MLC Anil Parab supported Andhare, stating that her protest was against actions outside of the legislative context. The privileges committee has also issued a notice to comedian Kunal Kamra regarding his parody against Shinde, as Andhare stood her ground on her right to dissent.
