In a bold response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's austerity measures, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat announced on Tuesday a cessation of air travel within the state and a reduction of vehicles in his convoy. This decision aligns with the government’s efforts to mitigate the impact of the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
The governor has instructed university leaders to implement 'combustion engine-free' days and urged the use of bicycles and electric vehicles. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to conserve fuel and reinforce economic resilience. Modi's call extends to delaying gold purchases and minimizing foreign travel.
Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil echoed the governor’s moves by forgoing piloting and escort cars, demonstrating a commitment to national interests by conserving petrol and diesel. Collectively, these actions aim to solidify India's self-reliance during geopolitical instability.
