Celebratory Fire Turns Tragic: Woman Injured at Delhi Wedding

A 22-year-old man was arrested for firing a gun at a wedding in Dayalpur, Delhi, injuring a woman. The accused, Rishi Thakur, evaded capture for a month, changing his hideouts. Police apprehended him in Sultanpuri, and he admitted involvement in the crime, which was classified as attempted murder.

In a shocking incident, Delhi Police have taken into custody a 22-year-old man linked to celebratory gunfire at a wedding in Dayalpur, which resulted in a woman sustaining a head injury. The man, identified as Rishi alias Manu Thakur, was caught in Sultanpuri after eluding authorities for nearly a month by frequently altering his hideouts.

The incident unfolded on April 11 as a wedding procession traveled through the Dayalpur area. While a couple observed the festivities from their balcony, two individuals reportedly discharged a firearm into the air, inadvertently hitting the woman. She was critically injured and rushed to GTB Hospital. In light of the severity, police amended charges to include attempted murder.

An intensive investigation followed, with a breakthrough occurring on May 12 when a criminal bureau received intelligence about Thakur's presence near Krishan Vihar, Sultanpuri. Police laid a careful trap at the market and successfully captured him. During questioning, Thakur confessed to participating in the incident and was linked to prior criminal cases in northeast Delhi.
