Eight individuals lost their lives in Israeli airstrikes on a highway south of Beirut on Wednesday, according to Lebanon's health ministry, as tensions with Hezbollah remain high pending U.S.-mediated talks.

The conflict, involving Iran-backed Hezbollah, persists despite a ceasefire facilitated by the U.S. Hostilities mainly occur in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces are maintaining a security zone. Nevertheless, the latest series of airstrikes surpassed the principal area of conflict, focusing on vehicles around 20 kilometers south of Beirut.

The Lebanese health ministry confirmed that the deceased included two children, whereas the Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incident. While targeting Hezbollah sites in the south, the Israeli military has advised residents to vacate six targeted towns and villages.
