Nagpur Airport Set for Transformation: PPP Model Approved by Union Cabinet

The Union Cabinet has approved a major upgrade for Nagpur International Airport, facilitated through a public-private partnership. This move extends the lease of the Airports Authority of India's land to MIHAN India Ltd, with the aim of boosting infrastructure and efficiency.

GMR Nagpur International Airport Ltd (GNIAL) has been granted the necessary license to spearhead the modernization efforts, coinciding with the 30-year concession period. The overhaul is anticipated to improve passenger and cargo services, bringing enhanced growth prospects to the city.

Initially delayed by land demarcation issues, the project gained momentum after a Supreme Court ruling in favor of GMR Airports Ltd, following their successful tender bid. The airport now looks forward to significant investments and development in the coming years.
