In Assam, an interesting development has unfolded with the swearing-in of five ministers who are all crorepatis. Himanta Biswa Sarma returned as Chief Minister for a consecutive term, joined by four others: BJP's Rameswar Teli and Ajanta Neog, AGP's Atul Bora, and Charan Boro from BPF.
The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) highlighted in a report that one of these ministers, Atul Bora, has a criminal case registered against him, concerning a 'criminal breach of trust by public servant' under IPC Section-409. The financial disclosures paint a picture of significant wealth among the group.
Chief Minister Sarma leads with assets exceeding Rs. 35 crore and liabilities over Rs. 16 crore. The average wealth among the ministers comes to Rs 10.99 crore. Notably, Ajanta Neog stands as the solitary female minister in this session.
