In a significant move against corruption, two officials from Azamgarh's Social Welfare Department were apprehended on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in a financial scandal. The irregularities, amounting to Rs 51.46 lakh, pertained to teacher salary payments at aided educational institutions.
The arrests of District Social Welfare Officer Rajesh Chaudhary and office assistant Satendra Bahadur Singh highlight the state's stringent zero-tolerance policy against corruption. The issue was brought to light by a complaint, leading the District Magistrate of Azamgarh to establish a high-level inquiry committee.
The investigation's findings confirmed widespread financial misconduct and abuse of power, resulting in swift action. State Minister for Social Welfare Asim Arun underscored the government's commitment to rooting out corruption, reaffirming that no guilty parties will escape justice.
