Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey has called for a stronger balance between coal production and environmental sustainability while reviewing the operational performance and long-term strategic roadmap of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) during an official visit on 13 May 2026.

The visit focused on assessing ECL's operational achievements, mine safety standards, production efficiency, environmental initiatives and infrastructure modernisation as the government intensifies efforts to strengthen India's energy security while advancing more sustainable mining practices.
