The UK is investing £1 billion ($1.35 billion) to acquire 72 RCH 155 howitzers from Germany's ARTEC GmbH for military modernization, supporting over 500 jobs. The first deliveries are expected by 2028, filling the gap left by AS90s sent to Ukraine. The investment aligns with Britain's defense-spending surge.

The United Kingdom has announced plans to spend £1 billion to purchase 72 RCH 155 howitzers as part of its military modernization efforts. This investment will provide a boost to the country's defense capabilities while supporting more than 500 jobs in the process.
The howitzers are expected to be delivered by 2028 under a contract with ARTEC GmbH, a joint venture between KNDS and Rheinmetall. Key components will be manufactured in England, enhancing the local economy and the workforce.
This significant outlay reflects Britain's most substantial defense spending increase since World War II. Despite this, industries await a comprehensive defense investment plan, delayed by several months. The RCH 155 can fire at targets up to 70 km away, offering a strategic advantage on the battlefield.
