Maharashtra's police have successfully disrupted a prostitution racket in Thane district, arresting a woman allegedly involved in orchestrating the illegal operation from a local hotel.

The arrest followed an investigation by the anti-human trafficking cell, which targeted the hotel on Kalher on Thane-Bhiwandi Road on Tuesday. The operation led to the rescue of two women, who have been relocated to a shelter home in Ulhasnagar.

The suspect has been charged under Sections 143(1) and 143(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, as confirmed by senior police inspector Vaishali Gorde.
