Subrahmanyam Jaishankar Advocates for Safe Maritime Flows

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar emphasized the importance of safe maritime passages through vital waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea for global economic stability. Speaking at the BRICS meeting, he urged addressing unilateral sanctions inconsistent with international law and the UN Charter.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar highlighted the critical importance of ensuring "safe, unimpeded maritime flows" through key international waterways like the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, underscoring their role in maintaining global economic stability.

Jaishankar, addressing the assembly of BRICS foreign ministers in New Delhi, pointed out, "We must also address the increasing resort to unilateral coercive measures and sanctions inconsistent with international law and the UN Charter."

BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia, representing a significant global economic partnership.
