The state experienced fresh violence on Wednesday when suspected militants killed three church leaders and injured four others in Kangpokpi district, officials reported.

In Noney district, a civilian was gunned down, and his wife sustained injuries. Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, while visiting the victim's family, stated ongoing discussions with civil society groups and political leaders to ensure the release of hostages.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has been alerted about the development. There is speculation about entities that might be disrupting peace efforts. The incident has prompted condemnation from the Chief Ministers of Mizoram and Manipur as communities protest the atrocities, leading to shutdowns across multiple districts in the region.
