An explosion at a firecracker factory in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district has killed three workers and left 15 others injured. The incident occurred on Thursday and has prompted Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to launch an investigation. The government will offer Rs 4 lakh to the families of the deceased, while the injured are set to receive free medical treatment.
The blaze erupted at the firecracker unit in the Tonk Kalan area, prompting swift actions from authorities. Collector Rituraj Singh, who visited the site, confirmed the fire is now under control. Hospital officials in Indore and Dewas are currently treating the injured. Social media footage shows chaotic scenes with smoke billowing and emergency responses underway.
According to reports, construction was ongoing at the factory owned by Anil Malviya, having only started operations 15 days ago. Compliance with safety regulations will be part of the investigation, as local officials, including Dewas district guardian minister Jagdish Devda, home secretary, and others have been directed to examine the accident site.
