Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema launched a scathing attack on the BJP, accusing the party of presiding over a surge in crime in its governed states. He highlighted the AAP government's initiatives in Punjab, particularly the Anti-Gangster Task Force, as effective measures in curbing organized crime.
Cheema drew attention to the National Crime Records Bureau data, which he claimed unveils the reality of BJP's governance. He pointed to high crime rates in BJP-ruled areas like Delhi, Gujarat, and others, contrasting them with Punjab's significantly lower statistics, which he attributes to successful law enforcement efforts under the Bhagwant Mann administration.
Addressing a specific incident in Chandigarh, Cheema criticized the BJP for failing to maintain law and order. He alleged the party's complicity in nurturing gangsterism, citing the example of a notorious gangster operating from a BJP-led state. Cheema also claimed that BJP aims to intimidate influential Punjabi figures, referencing Punjabi artist Diljit Dosanjh.
