In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Assam Police's Special Task Force seized drugs valued at Rs 21.36 crore in Kamrup district, according to officials.
The operation led to the arrest of five suspects, all residents of Manipur, who were transporting the narcotics on a bus originally coming from Kwakta, Manipur. The police had received crucial intelligence inputs about this operation.
Acting on this information, the STF and Kamrup district police collaboratively intercepted the bus, discovering a secret compartment concealing 197 packets of heroin and 8 kg of opium. The five individuals, identified as Abdul Latif, Md Taher Ali, Md Islamuddin, Md Latip, and Md Ajmer, were promptly detained.
