In a bid to enhance disaster preparedness ahead of the monsoon season, Haryana conducted its inaugural state-level flood mock drill across 13 flood-prone districts on Thursday. This exercise aimed to draw key lessons from past floods and strengthen existing disaster management frameworks, according to officials.

The Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management, Sumita Misra, coordinated the effort from the State Control Room, acting as the state incident commander. The mock drill was carried out in districts including Gurugram, Ambala, and Faridabad among others, identified as high-risk for flooding.

The state-level simulation involved different phases and departments, testing response mechanisms. Agencies conducted drills simulating heavy floods, urging effective coordination to ensure swift emergency responses. Observations and insights from the drill will be incorporated into future disaster planning strategies, Misra noted.
