Explosive Discovery: 30,000 Detonators Seized in Meghalaya

Two men from Assam were arrested when police discovered 30,000 detonators concealed in their car in Meghalaya. The find was made during a vehicle check near Umkiang. The suspects, Kamrul Ali Laskar and Ibrahim Uddin Laskar, are under investigation to trace the source and intended recipients of the detonators.

In a significant bust, two individuals from Assam were detained after authorities reportedly found 30,000 detonators hidden in their vehicle in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills district. The police intercepted the car early Wednesday during a routine check at Umkiang.

The Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Kumar Rasgania, disclosed that the detonators were found concealed inside two boxes and a bag. The vehicle was en route to Silchar when it was stopped for inspection, leading to the major seizure.

Kamrul Ali Laskar and Ibrahim Uddin Laskar, the car's occupants, were promptly apprehended. A case has been registered under the Explosive Substances Act at Lumshnong police station, with ongoing investigations to uncover the origins and intended delivery of the explosives.
