GE Aerospace CEO's Beijing Visit Amid Major Boeing Deal
GE Aerospace CEO Larry Culp was seen at the National Development and Reform Commission in Beijing following a significant Boeing purchase announcement by China. As Boeing's engine supplier, GE also benefits from the deal, despite its smaller-than-expected size, affecting market shares.
GE Aerospace CEO Larry Culp was observed in Beijing on Friday, as he departed a meeting at the headquarters of China's influential state planner, the National Development and Reform Commission, according to a Reuters report.
The visit coincides with U.S. President Donald Trump's statement regarding China's commitment to order 200 Boeing jets after his discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This marks China's first purchase of U.S.-manufactured commercial jets in nearly ten years.
As the primary engine supplier for Boeing, GE Aerospace is poised to benefit from the deal, although it fell short of market expectations of around 500 jets, leading to a decline in shares for both companies. GE Aerospace did not provide immediate comments regarding the purpose of Culp's visit.
