A Delhi court has placed Dhananjay Lokhande, accused in the NEET paper leak case, under six days' custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The decision was taken by Special Judge Ajay Gupta, responding to the CBI's request for further custodial interrogation.

The CBI has revealed that Lokhande provided a leaked exam paper to fellow accused, Shubham, which he received from Manisha Baghmare, another individual implicated in the scandal. The agency asserts that a broader conspiracy is in play, emphasizing that investigations remain crucial and ongoing.

Lokhande's legal counsel has contested the grounds of arrest, alleging procedural irregularities, including being made to sign blank documents. Alongside Lokhande, five others have been remanded in custody. The NEET (UG) 2026 examination was recently annulled following revelations of the paper leak, prompting government intervention and a thorough CBI investigation.
