Pune Hospital Extortion Plot: Man Nabbed for Planting IED

Shivaji Rathod allegedly planted an IED in a Pune hospital to extort money for medical expenses. He was apprehended by Maharashtra ATS with help from RPF while attempting to flee by train. The police tracked him using CCTV and technical evidence, revealing his plan after a costly treatment estimate.

In a dramatic turn of events, a man was arrested for allegedly planting an improvised explosive device (IED) in a Pune hospital as part of an extortion plot. Unable to afford medical treatment, Shivaji Rathod, the prime suspect, resorted to desperate measures to obtain funds.

The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), nabbed Rathod on the Shalimar Express while he was attempting to flee. Rathod, who owns a garment shop in Pune's Manjari area, planted the IED in the washroom of Ushakiran Hospital. The bomb was later neutralized by authorities.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar revealed Rathod's identity and his connection to the crime. The police conducted a thorough investigation, finding an empty timer case at his shop. Multiple teams were deployed to track him, leading to his arrest in Nagpur based on CCTV footage and technical evidence.
