Odisha Engineer's Hidden Wealth Exposed

The Odisha Vigilance Department has arrested Bijay Kumar Mohanty, a government junior engineer, for owning assets exceeding his legitimate income. Following raids at his properties, valuable assets such as buildings, plots, cash, gold, and deposits were discovered. A legal case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, has been filed.

The Odisha Vigilance Department has apprehended a government junior engineer, Bijay Kumar Mohanty, for possessing assets that far exceed his known sources of income.

Following intensive raids at four of Mohanty's properties, authorities found two multi-storey buildings, seven plots, Rs 1.73 lakh in cash, 350 grams of gold, and deposits totaling Rs 19.46 lakh. Mohanty was unable to provide satisfactory explanations for these assets, according to officials.

Subsequently, a formal case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, has been registered against Mohanty at Balasore Vigilance police station, with plans to present him before the court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore.
