SDM Arrested in Multi-Crore Embezzlement Scam

In a major development, Anupreet Kaur, a sub-divisional magistrate in Gurdaspur, Punjab, has been arrested on allegations of a Rs 1.63 crore embezzlement linked to a national highway project.
The 2012-batch Punjab Civil Services officer was apprehended at her official residence. The accusations involve the illegal transfer of compensation funds to five individuals whose lands were not acquired for the highway project between Jammu and Rajasthan.
The situation is further complicated by additional charges against Kaur for allegedly embezzling Rs 88 lakh in a separate case in 2021, adding to the controversy.
