A horrifying case of domestic violence has emerged from Chhattisgarh's Surguja district. Pradeep Agariya is accused of brutally murdering his 23-year-old pregnant wife, Heerabai, in an appalling act involving a hacksaw blade, police and health officials reported on Sunday.

The tragic incident, which occurred on May 14 in Bhitthikala village, came to light after Heerabai was declared dead at Ambikapur Medical College Hospital. Agariya had deceitfully claimed her injuries were from a road accident. However, forensic examination revealed the gruesome truth.

Agariya, allegedly a habitual abuser, was arrested and confessed. The victim had been severely abused, bearing 17 critical injuries, and was three months pregnant. The murder weapon, a 10-inch iron rod object, has been handed over for forensic analysis, shedding light on this harrowing crime.
