The Andhra Pradesh Police has inaugurated a new Coastal Security Police building in Visakhapatnam to strengthen maritime surveillance and security operations along the state's coastline.

The Andhra Pradesh Police on Tuesday inaugurated a new Coastal Security Police building in Visakhapatnam aimed at strengthening maritime surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response operations along the state's coastline.
Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta inaugurated the facility, which has been developed as a central hub for coastal monitoring and security operations.
''The new Coastal Security Police facility has been established to strengthen maritime surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities along Andhra Pradesh's coastline,'' an official release said.
During the visit, the DGP reviewed the functioning of the coastal security police and assessed preventive measures being implemented at beaches, beach patrolling systems and lifesaving operations.
He also reviewed community outreach programmes, functioning of village vigilance committees and the activities of the special intelligence unit operating under the coastal security police wing.
The DGP examined the availability of equipment and vehicles in the coastal security wing and discussed the need for further improvements in infrastructure and operational capabilities.
Gupta further reviewed training programmes conducted so far, induction of three platoons of Andhra Pradesh Special Police personnel and awareness initiatives related to environmental conservation, including protection of Olive Ridley turtles.
He also assessed drug awareness campaigns, night halt operations, flag hoisting activities on islands and Naval NCC-related programmes undertaken by the coastal security police.
Gupta appreciated the initiatives taken by the coastal security police and assured that all necessary infrastructure and support would be provided to further strengthen coastal security mechanisms across Andhra Pradesh.
