The recent amendments to the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, provide a conducive environment for the industries and facilitate ease of doing business, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said on Friday.
The minister stated that this resulted in the local communities getting due benefits from the industries.
''Nearly Rs 145 crore has been released to beneficiaries across the country, benefiting around 11,000 biodiversity management committees,'' said Yadav.
He made these comments during his address at an event marking the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) 2026 in Bhopal.
The minister also highlighted that meaningful global outcomes can emerge only through strong local action, community participation, and sustainable lifestyles.
''Community-led conservation traditions such as sacred groves, folk varieties, landraces, and local stewardship practices demonstrate the deep cultural and ecological relationship between the people and nature,'' He said.
